Short answer: ZenMaid prints its prices and Housecall Pro prints them too, but they scale differently. ZenMaid is $19 a month for up to 40 appointments and $39 for unlimited appointments, with SMS fees not included. Housecall Pro runs $59 a month for one user, $149 for five and $299 for eight when billed annually, and $79, $189 and $329 month to month. A five person cleaning company pays about $468 a year on ZenMaid Pro and between $1,788 and $2,268 a year on Housecall Pro Essentials. Neither product follows up your quotes or brings back clients who stopped booking, which is the office work a flat $149 a month agent covers.
We sell a flat rate AI agent, so we have an interest in how this comes out. Both vendor pages were read on November 5, 2026 and change often. Check them before you sign.
What ZenMaid and Housecall Pro publish
| Product | Plans | Published price | How it scales |
|---|---|---|---|
| ZenMaid | Starter, Pro | Starter $19 a month, up to 40 appointments. Pro $39 a month, unlimited appointments, adds cleaner GPS tracking, reports and payroll | Appointment count, SMS fees on top with no rate printed, month to month with a 14 day free trial |
| Housecall Pro | Basic, Essentials, Max | Basic $59 annual or $79 monthly for 1 user. Essentials $149 or $189 for 5 users. Max $299 or $329 for 8 users | Users included, extra Max users $35 a month each, introductory first month offers, annual billing discount |
ZenMaid also shows a Pro Max plan at $49 labeled coming soon. It is built for residential and maid service companies, which is why its cheapest plan is capped by appointments rather than by users.
How much does cleaning software cost a small company a year?
Take an owner, an office manager and three team leads. On ZenMaid the cap that matters is appointments, not people. A company running more than 40 visits a month needs Pro at $39, which is $468 a year, plus text message fees whose rate the page does not print.
On Housecall Pro the same five people fit Essentials at $149 a month billed annually, which is $1,788 a year, or $189 month to month, which is $2,268. A sixth user pushes you to Max at $299 a month, or $3,588 a year. The extra cost buys more general field service features such as estimates, dispatch and payments.
Who each one suits: ZenMaid suits a residential maid service that wants recurring bookings, cleaner payroll and a price under $50. Housecall Pro suits a company that also does commercial or mixed field work and wants one tool for quoting, dispatch and invoicing.
What does the software leave undone?
Both products hold the schedule. They book the visit, assign the cleaner and send the invoice. Neither writes the second reminder on a quote that went quiet, notices that a weekly client has not booked in five weeks or drafts the renewal for a janitorial contract before it lapses. Those jobs fall to an owner or office manager, and they are the first dropped on a busy week.
An agent covers that gap. Our AI for cleaning companies page lists the jobs in detail: quote follow-up at the intervals you set, reminders on invoices past 30, 45 and 60 days, rebooking notes for lapsed clients and renewal letters drafted 45 days out. It drafts, you approve. WorkAgent Starter is $149 a month, or $888 a year billed yearly, with no per-user fee. If it brings back one weekly client or collects one late commercial invoice a month, it is paid for.
What to ask before you sign with either vendor
Ask ZenMaid what text messages cost per message at your volume, because the page leaves that out and a company sending reminders for 200 visits a month will notice. Ask Housecall Pro what year two looks like after the introductory offers end, and where your headcount crosses from Essentials to Max.
Then count the hours. If you or your office manager spend eight hours a week on quote follow-up, invoice reminders and rebooking calls, that is more than 400 hours a year. At an office wage that is a larger line than the software subscription, and it is the part an agent takes over. When the unpaid invoices are the bigger worry, a tool built only for chasing overdue invoices automatically is worth pricing next to it.
Which route fits which cleaning company?
- One to three people, residential: ZenMaid Starter or Pro, plus the agent for follow-up.
- Four to fifteen people, mixed or commercial: price Housecall Pro Essentials and Max against your headcount.
- Any size: keep the booking tool and put the follow-up on an agent. The software does the schedule, the agent does the paper.
Frequently asked questions
How much does ZenMaid cost?
ZenMaid Starter is $19 a month for up to 40 appointments. Pro is $39 a month with unlimited appointments, cleaner GPS tracking, reports and payroll. SMS fees are not included, and plans are month to month with a 14 day free trial.
How much does Housecall Pro cost?
Housecall Pro Basic is $59 a month billed annually for one user. Essentials is $149 for five users and Max is $299 for eight. Month to month the same plans are $79, $189 and $329.
Is ZenMaid or Housecall Pro better for a small cleaning company?
ZenMaid is cheaper and built for recurring residential bookings. Housecall Pro costs more and fits companies that quote, dispatch and invoice across several kinds of work. The smaller and more residential you are, the more ZenMaid's price helps.
Can AI chase unpaid cleaning invoices?
Yes. An agent keeps the open invoice list, drafts reminders at the ages you pick and flags accounts that need a call. You approve each message, so nothing reaches a client without your say.
