ChatGPT Enterprise vs Gemini Enterprise pricing: which seat costs less at 10, 50 and 250 people

Short answer: for a US team under 200 people, the two cost almost the same. ChatGPT Business is $20 a seat per month billed annually and Gemini Enterprise Business is $21, so ten people pay $200 against $210. The gap opens in two places. Billed month to month, ChatGPT Business is $25 and Gemini Business stays at its $21 starting price. And between 201 and 300 people, Google still publishes a price while OpenAI moves you to ChatGPT Enterprise, which has none. At the top tier, Gemini Enterprise Standard lists at $30 a seat and ChatGPT Enterprise is a quote.

The price list, side by side

Most comparisons for this query put "ChatGPT Enterprise" against "Gemini Enterprise" as if both had a rate card. Only one does. The fair comparison is plan against plan, and each vendor has two plans a US company actually chooses between.

Two things jump out. OpenAI prints a monthly and an annual rate; Google prints one "starting at" figure for each card and leaves the term to the checkout. And OpenAI's top tier is the only row in the table with no number at all. What each one costs at 10, 50 and 250 people

Here is the arithmetic on published starting prices, with everyone on the cheapest general seat.

At 10 and 50 people the annual plans are within 5% of each other, which means price is not the deciding factor and you should pick on fit. At 250 people the comparison stops being a comparison. You can put a number for Google in a budget request the same afternoon. For OpenAI you need a sales call, a minimum you will only learn on that call, and a rate that nobody outside the contract can check.

The Premium seat changes the ChatGPT column more than people expect. A 50 person company with 45 Standard seats and 5 Premium seats pays $900 plus $500, or $1,400 a month annually, which is more than Gemini Business for the same 50 people. OpenAI lets you mix the two seat types in one workspace, so price your power users separately before you compare.

Does ChatGPT Enterprise cost more than Gemini Enterprise?

Nobody can say from public information, and anyone who gives you a single number is quoting a contract you have not seen. OpenAI's Enterprise card reads "Custom pricing" and adds a footnote that credit-based and token-based pricing are available for Enterprise plans. Google's Standard card reads "Starting at $30 USD per seat per month". The honest comparison is that Google's floor is known and OpenAI's is not, so the only way to compare them is to get OpenAI's quote and set it against $30.

If you already have an Enterprise quote from OpenAI, the arithmetic is simple. Multiply the gap between the quoted rate and $30 by your seat count and by twelve. At 300 seats, every dollar of difference is $3,600 a year.

Is Gemini Enterprise better than ChatGPT Enterprise for business?

It depends on where your company's knowledge lives, and less on the model. Gemini Enterprise was built from Google's enterprise search product, formerly Agentspace, so its strength is permission-aware search across Drive, Gmail, SharePoint, Confluence, Jira and a long connector list, with agents on top. Both connect agents to company data, which moves the risk from "what does the model say" to "what can the agent reach". Whichever you choose, budget for AI agent security that blocks prompt injection and enforces which tools and data an agent may touch, because neither seat price includes a review of what your connectors expose.

The limits that change the bill

The per-seat rate is the number everyone compares. These are the rules that decide what you actually pay.

Google pools usage; a seat raises a shared ceiling. Gemini Enterprise feature quotas are pooled across users on the same edition within a project and location. Ten Standard licenses create one daily pool of assistant queries, and Google's own example shows a single heavy user taking 500 of 1,600, with no individual cap unless an administrator sets one. That is generous for uneven teams and surprising for anyone who planned capacity per head.

OpenAI sells capacity by seat type. Instead of a pool, ChatGPT Business gives heavier users a different seat: Premium, at five times the Standard price. Predictable per person, but you pay for the heavy user every month whether or not they are heavy that month.

Google caps a credit card at 25 seats. Google's licensing documentation says a self-serve or resold Cloud Billing account can manage at most 25 seats in the console, and an invoiced account 1,000. A 40 person company buying Gemini Enterprise Standard online needs invoiced billing or a call with Google before seat 26.

OpenAI's line is at 200 employees. ChatGPT Business is scoped to teams of 2 to 200. The 201st employee, not a feature, is what moves you to the plan without a price.

Both vendors now sell metered shapes. Google's Pay-as-you-go edition has a $0 seat fee and bills tokens, memory, compute and storage, but needs an invoiced Cloud Billing account. OpenAI's Enterprise footnote offers credit-based and token-based pricing with no published rate. Neither is a cheap way in for a small team.

Which one should a US company buy?

Pick ChatGPT Business if your team is under 200, wants the best-known assistant, and will pay annually: $20 a seat is the lowest published rate here. Pick Gemini Enterprise Business if your files live in Google Workspace or SharePoint and you want search across them, or if you are between 201 and 300 people and need a published price. Pick Gemini Enterprise Standard if you need full-code agents, the Agent Marketplace or HIPAA support.
