Paying monthly makes your extra credits cheaper than your included ones, which is backwards

Pro AI paid monthly is $19 for 7,500 credits, so an included credit costs $0.002533. An extra credit costs 25 cents per 100, which is $0.0025. The credit you buy after the allowance runs out is slightly cheaper than the ones bundled into the plan. Business AI does the same thing: $29 for 15,000 credits is $0.001933 an included credit, against $0.0019 for an extra one. Motion inverts it, and it inverts it only when you pay monthly.

The annual discount is what creates the overage penalty

Take the same two plans on annual billing and the picture flips. Pro AI at $12.73 a seat is $0.001697 an included credit against $0.0025 for an extra one, so the marginal credit costs 1.47 times the included one. Business AI at $19.43 is $0.001295 against $0.0019, which is also 1.47 times. The overage rate does not change with your billing term, so committing to a year cuts the price of the credits you were given and leaves the price of the credits you run out of exactly where it was. That is worth knowing before you take the 33% saving, because it is the annual customer who feels the cliff.

Upgrading always beats topping up, and the break-even is a number you can check

On monthly billing, moving from Pro AI to Business AI costs $10 more a seat and buys 7,500 more credits. That is $0.001333 for each extra credit, against $0.0025 to buy the same credit as overage on Pro. Buying the bigger plan is 47% cheaper per credit than buying the shortfall. The crossover sits at 11,500 credits a seat a month on monthly billing: below that Pro AI plus overage is cheaper, above it Business AI wins outright, and Business AI hands you 15,000 credits anyway. On annual billing the crossover falls to 10,180 credits, because the gap between $12.73 and $19.43 is smaller than the gap between $19 and $29.

A vendor picks that list carefully, because it is who they expect to be evaluated against in a deal. Motion is not positioning itself against agent platforms, and its feature list is consistent with that: an AI task planner, an AI project manager, an AI calendar, a meeting notetaker, a docs assistant. Every one of those helps you get through your own work faster. None of them does a piece of work in your place while you are somewhere else. If you are comparing Motion to an AI employee, you are comparing two categories, and the price per seat is the least important difference between them.

The overage rate is fixed per plan and does not move with the billing term, so the gap between what you were given and what you have to buy changes completely depending on how you pay. Two things fall out of this table. The first is that Motion is the only platform of the eleven priced on this site where the marginal unit can cost less than the average unit, and it happens on both plans, on monthly billing, by a small but real margin. The second is that the annual discount is what creates the penalty. Motion cuts the price of the credits it gives you by 33% and leaves the price of the credits you buy exactly where it was, so the customer who committed to a year is the one who meets a 1.47 times step the moment the allowance runs out. Neither effect is hidden. Both are simply the arithmetic of two published numbers, and neither is mentioned by any page currently ranking for this query.

Best for:: A team whose real problem is that nobody knows what to work on next, and whose work already lives in one system. It is genuinely good at auto-scheduling and at telling you a deadline is going to slip before it slips.
Strength:: The entry price is low and honest, the credit allowance is generous at 15,000 a seat on Business AI, and the overage rate is the only one we have found that does not punish you for exceeding your plan on monthly billing. The 33% annual discount is exact on both plans rather than approximate.
Weakness:: It is not an agent platform and does not claim to be. There is no AI Employees tier despite what the guides say, credits are quoted per seat rather than as a shared pool, and there is no free plan, only a trial. If you need work done while you are away from the keyboard, this is the wrong category.

Lindy

An agent builder aimed at individuals and small teams, metered in credits that are pooled across the workspace rather than attached to a seat.

Best for:: Someone who wants agents that actually run tasks, is happy building them, and has a workload predictable enough to size a credit bundle.
Strength:: Credits pool across the workspace instead of per seat, and when the balance hits zero the agents pause with no charge rather than quietly billing you.
Weakness:: A Slack mention creates a billed seat, there is no annual billing, no rollover, and a credit is not a task: Lindy's own bands run from 2 credits for something trivial to 2,500 for a big build.

Relevance AI

$19 to $234 a month, billed annually

A platform for building an AI workforce, aimed hard at go to market work, running two meters at once: Actions for tool runs and Vendor Credits for model compute.

Best for:: A small revenue team that wants to build its own prospecting and qualification agents and does not mind watching two counters.
Strength:: Vendor Credits are passed through at cost and roll over indefinitely while you stay subscribed, and the free tier is a real one rather than a trial.
Weakness:: The pricing page carries no dollar figures at all, the ladder is buried in the docs, an extra Action costs more than ten times an included one on Pro, and a failed tool run still bills as a full Action.

WorkAgent

An AI worker that takes a task and returns the finished output: research, lead lists, inbox and follow up, CRM updates, recurring reports. Priced by the task, not by the seat.

Best for:: A small US business that wants the work done rather than a better view of the work, and wants one predictable line on the card each month.
Strength:: No per seat charge, so the price does not move when you add people, and no credit meter to forecast. What you are buying is finished output rather than capacity to build something.
Weakness:: We are early and access is queued rather than instant, the task allowance on the entry plan is 50 a month, and we do not schedule your calendar or manage your projects. If your problem is planning rather than execution, Motion is the better fit and we would rather say so.

There is no free plan. Motion offers a free trial, described on the pricing page as risk free and cancellable at any time, and elsewhere on the site as cancellable in one click. The pricing page also carries an Individuals and a Teams view; we rendered both, and both show the same two plans at the same two prices. A third column in the feature comparison lists Priority Business Support and White Glove Onboarding and Support without attaching a price to them, which is the usual shape of an enterprise conversation rather than a published tier.

For a team, multiply. Ten people on Business AI paid monthly is $290 a month and 150,000 credits. The same ten on Pro AI is $190 a month and 75,000 credits. Because the allowance is quoted per seat rather than as a shared pool, adding a light user adds both a seat charge and an allowance that person may never touch, which is the usual trade with per seat pricing and worth modelling before you commit to a year.

Is there a Motion AI Employees plan, and what does it cost?

No. As of September 9, 2026 there is no plan called AI Employees on Motion's pricing page, at $49 or at any other price. The page publishes Pro AI at $19 a seat and Business AI at $29 a seat, and that is the complete self-serve ladder. This matters because the guides ranking for this query say otherwise, and they do not agree with each other either. Several describe an AI Employees Starter at roughly $49 a month for one seat with 10,000 credits, an AI Employees Light at $99 and a Plus tier at $599. Others, including at least two pages on the first results screen, correctly report Pro at $19 and Business at $29. The honest reading is that Motion markets AI heavily as a set of features, an AI task planner, an AI project manager, an AI calendar, an AI notetaker, and prices those inside two ordinary seat plans. What it does not sell is a separately priced worker you hand a job to. If that is what you came for, the number you were quoted does not exist, and the product behind it does not do what the quote implied.

What is a Motion AI credit and what does it cost?

A Motion AI credit is the unit Motion meters AI usage in, and the allowance is attached to each seat: 7,500 a seat a month on Pro AI and 15,000 a seat a month on Business AI. When a seat exceeds its allowance, extra credits cost 25 cents per 100 on Pro AI and 19 cents per 100 on Business AI. Those work out at $0.0025 and $0.0019 a credit.

The interesting part is what those rates do against the plan price. On Pro AI paid monthly, $19 divided by 7,500 credits is $0.002533 for each credit you were given, and an extra credit costs $0.0025. Your marginal credit is cheaper than your average credit. Business AI does the same: $29 over 15,000 is $0.001933 included against $0.0019 for an extra. Across the eleven platforms priced on this site, every other vendor charges a premium for the marginal unit, from 1.47 times up to more than ten times. Motion is the only one that can go the other way.

Switch to annual and the effect reverses, because the discount applies to the plan and not to the overage. At $12.73 a seat, a Pro AI included credit costs $0.001697 and an extra one still costs $0.0025, a step of 1.47 times. At $19.43 a seat, a Business AI included credit costs $0.001295 against $0.0019, also 1.47 times. If your usage is spiky and you are close to the allowance, the annual saving is smaller than it looks, because the months you run over are the months you pay list price for the difference.

Buying the larger plan is roughly 47% cheaper per credit than buying the shortfall, which means the upgrade always wins once you are genuinely over.

The exact break-even on monthly billing is 11,500 credits a seat a month. Below that, Pro AI at $19 plus whatever overage you incur is cheaper. Above it, Business AI at $29 is cheaper outright, and it also hands you 15,000 credits rather than 7,500. On annual billing the crossover falls to 10,180 credits a seat, because the gap between $12.73 and $19.43 is only $6.70 rather than $10.

The practical version: if your people are consistently running past 7,500 credits, stop paying overage and move the plan. If they are nowhere near it, Business AI is not buying you credits you need, it is buying you capacity planning, Gantt charts, time tracking, permissions and priority support, and you should decide on those features rather than on the credit line.
